Severe Weather Awareness Week

February 28 - March 6 has been designated as Severe Weather Awareness Week in North Carolina.  Please see the below information issued from Governor Purdue's office.  A statewide tornado drill exercise will be held on Friday, March 5, beginning at 9:30am

As a part of the statewide exercise on Friday, Rowan/Salisbury Schools will conduct their annual tornado drill and area tornado sirens will be tested as well.  The National Weather Service will issue a tornado drill exercise message through the NWS Weather Alert Radio System also.

As a local participation effort, Rowan County Emergency Services is encouraging all citizens and businesses to take a moment this week and review your individual emergency preparedness and action plans.  Now is the time, before an event strikes to ensure you are ready and prepared for not only the upcoming spring and summer storm season, but all hazards year-round.

Additional safety and preparedness information is available at www.ReadyROWAN.org.
